Great question. I'd love to know the answer to it too.
I have four blankets completed. One is too large, so I'll hold onto it (50 inches). Don't know if I should start another one or stop and work on something else.
I've got 2 and 1/2 blankets done. This week I'm doing emergency knitting of a hat and scarf for my youngest grandsons birthday. And, my daugher-in-law washed/felted a wool blanket I knitted for her son...so...I'm going to do a corner to corner blanket for him in acrylic (Super Soft Shadow yarn) ASAP.
I have started a blanket using a pattern I think I got here for one of the earlier campaigns. It has stripes of garter stitch stripe pattern made with two strands of worsted wool -- edge is garter stitch and main part is 8 rows garter followed by 8 ss rows. I seem to have quite a bit of leftover similar texture and gage wool in blues and greens -- hopefully enough to get to the 40" length as the width is good on what I have finished. I'll take a pic when I get a little further along.
Hi Everyone, I'm supposed to be touring Athens, Greece, but my husband has a severe toothache and, thinking of y'all, I'm waiting until he feels better and passing time by finishing up a pair of socks. I had to leave the blanket I'm working on back in the states. Wish I had it here with me now, but I'm certain socks will be needed again sometime. Hope everyone is doing well. NCVirginia
Our 2016 campaign was completed the first week of August 2016. Our wool gifts were successfully transported and distributed by NGO Trust in Education.

Update August 2017:
Unfortunately, we do not have plans for a new campaign at this time because of hurdles with logistics. We'll do our best to solve, but nothing promising yet. Thank you for participating while we had the opportunity!
THE BASICS
afghans for Afghans is a people-to-people project that knits and crochets wool garments as a practical gesture of friendship and respect for the people of Afghanistan. In partnership with the San Francisco office of the American Friends Service Committee, our project started in late 2001 in response to the war that unfolded after 9/11. This follows a long-time tradition of knitting for others at times of war and crisis. Afghan families still need to know that we care. Join us here for camaraderie, inspiration, and mutual support with projects.

Ann is traveling for a couple of days; I emailed, and will post her answer if I get one.

Thanks. I've gone on to a project or two for Pine Ridge while we wait.

I heard from Ann, and there's no specific goal. That being said, I've never heard of a campaign when they received too many. . .
