Hi to my fellow a4Aer's.
Here's the sweater I finished today. I had hoped to get my neighbor's girl to model it, but it's pouring rain here so I probably won't see her today, and I need to get this in the mail. And Sue ordered me to post a photo when I was done. ;-) This was crocheted with Lions Wool yarn that I picked up last March when Hobby Lobby decided not to carry it anymore. (Thanks again to whoever gave the heads up on that great bargain; I don't remember who it was.) I followed the largest size in the instructions (12) and went up one size for the hooks because I tend to crochet tightly.
Thanks again to cti and Sue, for all your help and encouragement when I got stuck on the pattern, to my hubby for picking out the buttons, and especially for not grumbling about how behind I got on my house work while I crocheted night and day to finish this sweater. It turned out thick and warm!

Good for you on sticking it out, the result is beautiful! What a nice gift that will be for someone.
Wow - that's stunning, Shirley! Beautiful work, and a beautiful sweater. Lovely!
Hi Shirley,
Can you please post the link to the pattern or tell people the source of the pattern? This appears to be a very good sweater design for crochet and for Afghanistan -- long sleeves with ribbings and good neck coverage and nice button band that closes up well and arm gusset space -- and this is not easy to find.
Thanks!
Wow, Shirley. You are getting gooood! The sweater is elegant.
Thanks for all the compliments! I wasn't sure I could make the deadline for this one. I got the pattern from a booklet called, "Crochet & Knit Colorful Kids", by Red Heart Yarns. There is also a knit in one piece raglan sleeve sweater that would work well for this campaign in the book but I don't knit. Bar code: 7365079719 published by Coats & Clark. I picked it up at Wal-Mart a year or two ago but they are really downsizing their crafts department around here.
I don't like to follow the book's directions for assembling the sweater though. If you decide to make one, lmk and I'll email you the way I put it together. I'll keep an eye out for extra copies of the booklet; maybe I can give away one for my next contest! :-)
Very nice, indeed! Kudos for finishing on time.
That looks so warm and the colors are fantastic.
Shirley--
Your perseverance paid off big--the sweater is beautiful. Soon you'll be a crochet pro.
Three cheers to your husband, too!
