Time for Mittens!

It's time for a break from my day after day knitting a baby blanket! It is knit in stockinette and for the life of me I can't seem to make much progress. Perhaps a new project of mittens will give me the needed break from knit one row, purl the next!

For being so small, don't these baby blankets seem to take forever? Mittens & socks are faster...you can see progress pretty quick!

I hear you, Joan! My current blanket is garter stitch which takes forever, since the stitches aren't as tall as stocking stitch (although, no purling is the nice trade-off!). So it will be a nice break to try to make a few small items.

I have a 3hr train ride on Friday to go visit family for Thanksgiving - that is great knitting time!

It's nice to read that I'm not the only one wondering when the magic number of 40" will be reached! Sue, I loved the cheer; laughed out loud when I read it.

Jean, thanks for the heads up that Elizabeth updated her pattern to include 12-14 yr olds. I haven't looked at the pattern site for quite some time...I have my favorites, so this was good news.

I also knit my mittens with just 1 strand worsted & thought they were heavy enough.

The timing of this campaign is perfect for me -- I'm travelling a lot this this month and needed a project on plastic (magic loop) needles for airplane seat knitting. I've focused on socks, and have finished two pairs (worsted weight) in about an 8 year old's size, and am now making a larger pair. I knit socks without a pattern, but will now switch to mittens for variety.
