FYI: Monday is a US Post Office holiday
Uh oh. The box I meant to mail on Monday. . . well, it won't go out until Tuesday. Monday is a post office holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Hope I saved some of you a wasted trip.
I didn't connect MLK Day being a post office holiday until I just read your post. With Priority being 2 days, still will work for our Thursday deadline.
This means our volunteer packing crew is going to have to hustle even more to complete the packing in time for shipping out.
I do have a USPS office open on Sunday near my apartment, but these are rare. I think the mail actually goes out on Sunday. I will double check. This is where we have our a4A postal box for "business mail," meaning bank statements, financial donations, etc (not knits).
New 2013 Campaign for NGO Trust in Education: 500 wool sweaters for school girls (7-16 years), and socks, mittens, and hats (7 years to adults), according to these guidelines.
This campaign is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and wool lover Luisa Gelenter.
Please check back for updates. Thank you very much.

THE BASICS
afghans for Afghans is a people-to-people project that knits and crochets wool blankets and garments as a practical gesture of friendship and respect for the people of Afghanistan. In partnership with the San Francisco office of the American Friends Service Committee, our project started in late 2001 in response to the war that unfolded after 9/11. This follows a long-time tradition of knitting for others at times of war and crisis. Afghan families still need to know that we care. Join us here for camaraderie, inspiration, and mutual support with projects.
