Here's a colorful blanket in progress! I'm glad I stopped and took a picture - I didn't realize how wobbly the edges are. I'm backing up and fixing one of the problems and hoping the rest will get evened out with the border.

The hexagon blanket for the last campaign didn't work out very well - it ended up too long and the half-hexagons didn't make a straight edge. It can be fixed, I think. By the time I had it all put together, I realized what I should have been doing! It should be ready for the next youth campaign, whenever that is.

I am a big believe in steam blocking! You can adjust a lot of unevenness that way. My method is really simple: I have a great steam iron. I lay the piece out on a towel to the shape it should be, using pins as needed, and then hold the iron over it, blasting it with steam (mine has a very powerful steam feature!) and smoothing it over with my hand to get it the way I want. You never want to actually touch the work with your iron -- just hover over it. You'll be amazed how the wool just lays down and behaves :)

Thanks for the suggestion! I've done some steam blocking in the past, so I'll give that a try.

I'll do some before and after pictures of the hexagon when I get back to it - probably in a month or so. I need to do a lap robe for my mother first!
