and the winner is. . .

I drew the names Saturday, as promised, but it was a hectic weekend -- all fun, but hectic -- and I'm just now getting back to the computer. My superbulky Bartlett will be going to Irene. Irene, please email your address to me, at yarnystuff@gmail.com, and I'll get it right out to you.

For those who did not win, I will be putting together another box of yarn a little later, probably this week, so stay tuned. . .

It's a great idea Elizabeth! How many skeins did you put in your prize? I'm thinking of doing the same thing and getting some help turning this stash of Lion's Brand wool into blankets. :-)

Well, the yarn I had to offer is unusual, and since people are unlikely to have something that goes with it, I put in all 8 skeins -- I know that's enough for a blanket, and I know I'll never use it. For a box of standard worsted, I guess I'd go weigh some of the squares I've made recently and take it from there. I'm just finishing up a Peace Fleece blanket that took probably between 5 and 6 skeins of that yarn, so that's somewhere between 1000 and 1200 yards. I'd put at least five or six 100-g skeins, or the equivalent in partial balls, in a giveaway. And most people who read this blog probably have the odd bit of worsted lying around, so if you underestimate by a little, it wouldn't be a crisis. You could also offer, for instance, 3 half-skeins in bright colors for people who need something to jazz up their next blanket. . .

OK, Irene...not to put pressure on, but we'll be waiting to see what design you decide to make from Elizabeth's yarn.

Do I see stashes being 'exchanged' in our future? Truly, what is 1 knitter's excess can be another's treasure....crocheter's too.

Still hoping to hear back from Irene!! Now I know to have people contact me directly so I have an email address (all you others who may start mailing stash out of town, pay heed!). If I have not heard from her by Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, I will draw again.

Irene, if you see this, please email me at yarnystuff@gmail.com.

Sue,
Doing ok. Trying to get started on a new blanket, but it may be too advanced for me. So look out for me yelling for help in the near future.
